Product Description

The Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) DNA Test from AffinityDNA is a fast, accurate, and reliable way to determine whether your dog is clear, a carrier, or genetically affected by Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) - also known as Choroidal Hypoplasia. CEA/CH is a hereditary eye disease that can lead to impaired vision or blindness, most common in herding breeds such as Collies, Border Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs, and Australian Shepherds.

This easy-to-use home testing kit provides peace of mind to dog owners and essential insight for breeders in 7 working days from receipt of the samples, helping prevent the unintentional mating of two carriers and reduce the risk of passing this condition to future generations.

Test Suitable For the Following Breeds:

  • Australian Labradoodle
  • Australian Shepherd
  • Bearded Collie
  • Border Collie
  • Boykin Spaniel
  • Collie (Rough and Smooth)
  • English Shepherd
  • Hokkaido
  • Lancashire Heeler
  • Longhaired Whippet
  • Miniature Australian Shepherd
  • Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
  • Rough Collie
  • Shetland Sheepdog
  • Silken Windhound
  • Smooth Collie
  • Toy Australian Shepherd

Mixed breed dogs can be tested only if one or more of the breeds above are known to be present.

CEA/CH (Collie eye anomaly/Choroidal hypoplasia) is inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern, meaning:

  • Clear dogs do not carry the gene
  • Carrier dogs carry one copy of the gene
  • Affected dogs have two copies and will pass the mutation to all offspring

Breeding two carriers risks producing affected puppies. This test allows you to make informed decisions.
